Usurper

Dmitry Petrov was supposed to be the next Vampire King of Raspien.

On the night of his eighteenth birthday, Dmitry unwittingly finds himself at the center of a scandal that turns his life upside down. Stripped of his titles, inheritance, and everything he’s ever known, Dmitry has to learn to live like the other side.

Forced to question everything he’s been taught to believe, Dmitry is determined to forge ahead and build a new life far from the intricate politics and poison of a family bound to a golden chair and the weight of a crown once promised.

But dressing a prince in overalls does not a pauper make, and no matter the distance he travels or how hard he tries to forget, Dmitry has to face a harsh and inescapable truth; that a fate born into is not so easily shaken. When he finds himself at the beck and call of a boy king with too much power and no patience, Dmitry begins to understand that there is more to inheritance than a title and a crown, and blood—indeed—runs much thicker than water.

The Settings of Usurper

Raspien

Raspien is one of the largest countries in Kirgard, the central continent of Denya. Raspien forms part of the region known as East Kirgard. The southern parts of the country experience four distinct seasons. Farther north, winter stretches well into spring, with a very mild summer and a shorter autumn. The capital of Raspien is Pershka and the national language is Raspieni. The currency is Raspieni crowns but most of the currencies in use among the lands of Central and East Kirgard are accepted. There is no faith practiced in this land.

In the vampire world, Raspien is one of the most important countries, home to the Petrov dynasty, which has served as one of the only three Day Court kingdoms for the last 1000 years. The Petrov Palace is in the small northern town of Mevka close to a number of country estates. Between the Petrov Palace and the town is the renowned Petrov Academy, a school for nobleborn vampire boys.

South Westerland

South Westerland is one of three countries making up the continent of Westerland. A good part of South Westerland experiences a dry desert climate, with wetter regions farther west. The capital of South Westerland is Santos and the national language is Westerlandic, a tongue shared by all three countries forming this massive continent. Dialects are part and parcel of Westerlandic culture, and every region tends to have its own variation and colloquialisms. The currency of South Westerland is delori. There is no faith practiced in this land.

In the vampire world, South Westerland forms part of the Night Court and is considered a lordship.

South Westerland is also home to the Crow Moon Pack, one of the oldest wolf packs in the world, and a member of the Seven, allies to the King of the Realm and the rest of the Day Courts.
