Children of Lorcan
Children of Lorcan is the first series of the Lorcanverse.
Children of Lorcan is a multigenerational vampire fantasy series made up of seven volumes. Set in the fantasy world of Denya, Children of Lorcan follows five generations of vampires, wolves and hybrids from among the oldest families as they explore a fast changing world that puts to question everything they’ve ever known.
With everything to gain and even more to lose, these young protagonists venture forth to correct the wrongs of the past and forge a new way forward where old enmities are put to rest, new friendships are formed and everyone gets to live as the truest happiest version of themselves at last.
The events of Children of Lorcan take place over around 80 years of unrest following a 1000-year peace among vampires.
Meet the Main Characters

“Do you think we can change that? My terrible luck?”

“And you had better stick to black, Dmitry. White is my color. Wouldn’t want us to clash.”

“You don’t have to earn the love of your friends.”

“Wait, this is some vampire shit?”

“You say something like that about Yevgeni again and they won’t find your ashes.”

“It’s just a cycle of hate and if we keep repeating it, it will never end.”

“I’m that fourteen-year-old boy again, coming to school in a foreign place looking very much like the foreign boy I am.”

“I am smart and funny. I’m too ugly to be stupid and boring.” – Danyil
“I think we’ve been friends long enough I can call you out if I feel I must.” – Andrei
“Aren’t you afraid you’ll be healing someone who’s bleeding out and just…I don’t know […] I’d want to take a chunk right out of them.” – Oleg

“I’m on my knees for you now, where you people like us. Isn’t that what you like? For honest men to fall to their knees and die for you?”

“I’m sworn to him, Lord Councilman. If he wanted to stab you, I would follow him so I could cover up his tracks.”

“I swear, if I have to say no to him myself again, I’ll stab him in the garden and I am wearing some white […] Honestly, I’ll show him Petrov.”

“We can’t move forward if we don’t admit we sometimes have to go back a step or two.” – Sen
“There is nothing wrong with being in a position of power. It is only how you wield it that should recommend you or otherwise.” – Darius
The Settings of Usurper
Denya
Children of Lorcan is set in the fantasy world of Denya. Denya is made up of 57 countries with three continents and seven bodies of water. A lot of the action happens on the main continent of Kirgard, but we get to venture to both Westerland and Orian with the characters of these books.
The three countries Roben, Nebenland and Grotenland are known as the Free Lands and are not associated with any continents, nor are they acknowledged as a continent in their own right. Friendly relations have never been established with these lands.
The world of Denya is a place with multiple cultures, languages, currencies and traditions, as well as varying climates, topography and both natural and built environments. Magical and non-magical humans occupy the same spaces in most places, although humans would never know about their vampiric neighbors.
While every country has its own language or dialect, all the lands of Denya are able to communicate using the common tongue, a language developed over a millennium before the start of the series for purposes of trade. This language is based on Old Stedian, the language of the Western Isles, Amsten and Amsted.
